Walks Update – The Clerks’ well and CALEDONIAN CLOCK TOWER

Following our newsletter last weekend, we have news of two additional walks and tours. One provides an opportunity to view the Clerks’ Well, which was unearthed in 1924 on a building site in Farringdon Lane, and the second is of additional dates for a tour of the Caledonia Clock Tower, from where you can get some fabulous panoramic views across London (note that there is a tour for tomorrow, Sunday the 10th in the dates for the clock tower).

THE CLERKS’ WELL -WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE

2024 marks one hundred years since the rediscovery of the medieval Clerks’ Well, unearthed in 1924 on a building site in Farringdon Lane. To mark this anniversary, you are invited to join guides from Islington Guided Walks for a short water-themed tour of the area and an opportunity to view the Clerks’ Well. Join this free 60- minute tour on one of the following dates: Saturday 16th November, Thursday 21st November and Saturday 14th December. The tour begins at Farringdon Station and ends at the Clerks’ Well.

CALEDONIAN CLOCK TOWER

Climb 178 steps to the top of the Caledonian Market Clock Tower for fabulous panoramic views across London. On the way up you’ll learn about the history of the market and the area from our experienced and knowledgeable Islington Guides and get close-up views of the turret clock in action.
