DESCRIPTION:A tour with a former Pub Landlady and Cook which explores not only the why and wherefore of the explosion of restaurants\, cafes and bars in the area over the last 30 years or so\, but also dining and drinking from the past\, including feasting with royalty and monks\, eating with the Victorian working classes and how Gin nearly drove everyone crazy! \nThis tour starts outside the Elizabeth Line entrance to Farringdon Station\, Cowcross Street – opposite the Underground entrance and near to the Castle Pub – starting at 1100\, but please arrive about 5 to 10 minutes before we set off.  We’ll finish at Exmouth Market after about 90 minutes – a short walk to Farringdon or Angel stations \n  \n(This is a walking tour\, not a tasting tour) \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:Would you like to develop the skills to become a tour guide? Would you like to know more about history of Islington? Why not apply for the Clerkenwell & Islington tour guide training course starting in January 2026? \nIf you’d like to find out more\, join guides who have completed the course at our free ‘Meet the Guides’ event. The course tutors and other guides who have completed the course will take you on a walk to show you their favourite parts of Clerkenwell followed by a chance to ask questions and socialise in a local pub. \nWe meet outside Farringdon Station at 6:30pm and the walk will last approximately one hour \nThe event is free but please book a place so we know who to expect.
