Islington Guided Walks present a free heritage walking tour in partnership as part of Islington Irish Month, a project by Islington Council in partnership with the London Irish Centre.

Irish people have lived in Islington for centuries, but the 50s and 60s brought many emigrants – the navvies and nurses generation- who transformed pubs and the music scene and even Arsenal teams of the 1960s and 1970s. Join this fascinating walk to discover the iconic pubs of the Holloway Road such as the Favourite where emigrants would share their music and craic. Learn how the children of Irish emigrants learnt to cope with an urban childhood.
