This is a free walk part of the Local London Guiding Day series of walks by guiding associations in London looking at “What did the Victorians Do for us?”
Each walk lasts an hour, walks taking place between 10:00 and 16:00, walks leaving every hour. No need to book – just turn up.
In this walk, learn about London’s first underground railway and the early developments in telephone engineerings. Hear about major improvements in public health, medical care and social housing, and learn about prison reform in this part of North London.
NB: Farringdon tube station is closed on 12th October but the Thameslink station is open, Chancery Lane tube station is a short walk away and the 63 bus from Kings Cross station stops at Farringdon station.
