Event Details

Clerkenwell & Islington Guides have once again joined forces with our guiding colleagues in Camden, The City of London and Westminster to present Local London Guiding Day.

The theme for this year’s jamboree of FREE guided walks covering four of London’s most fascinating areas is COMMEMORATION 2018.  Walks will highlight this year’s many significant anniversaries including the centenary of the end of World War 1, the birth of the NHS, women gaining the vote and the formation of the RAF.

On our Remembering Islington’s Past walk  you will discover the historic importance of the Regent’s Canal and Islington Tunnel, see how those who gave their lives in WW1 are being remembered today and hear about the struggle for women’s suffrage and how other Islingtonians changed society. Walks will start from outside Angel tube station every hour on the hour from 10am with the last walk setting out at 4pm.
