Event Details

The 1930s was a time when businesses and institutions were rebuilding their premises in an effort to be part of a forward-looking zeitgeist. There are some fabulous examples to be found in the old boroughs of Finsbury and Shoreditch – see the clean lines of the ‘Jazz Age’ applied in various ways to places of commerce, art, health, housing and entertainment. We’ll also look at and compare a few modern buildings that continue to echo the stylised designs of the past. Note that this is followed by another Art Deco tour in Spitalfields.
