From Huguenots in the 17th century to Syrians in the 21st century many groups and individuals have found safety in Islington. They have escaped danger,war and hardship, political and social persecution. Our local tour guide will explore the stories of refugees who came to Islington, their influence on the borough and how Islington responded. This walk is part of Islington Museum’s programme of events around their exhibition The Basque Children – The Story of Child Refugees from the Spanish Civil War which runs from 15 June to 16 July.
The walk is free but booking is essential.
