Books and Barnsbury (Islington Literary Road Map Walk - West)

What links Oscar Wilde, Sylvia Plath and Bob the Cat? To find out join us on a walking tour to discover the eclectic literary history around Barnsbury. The group meets up outside Caledonian Road Tube Station tracing a route through Barnsbury to end outside the Angel Tube Station. On the way you will encounter a range of authors, a poet, an illustrator, a fictional detective, a literary society and even a cat. You will hear about lows such as crimes, suicides, imprisonment and censorship, as well as the joys of being part of a close knit community and meeting Bob the Cat. The timeframe ranges from the nineteenth century to a near-future dystopian Islington.
